A Personal Story.

I am an Electronics Engineer with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana Institute of Technology

A few years ago my late wife, who was a diabetic, developed a very painful nerve condition, called peripheral neuropathy. We were told that there is no cure for neuropathy and all that the health care system can do is provide drugs to control the pain.

In searching for some other kind of solution we tried various alternatives including acupuncture, and chiropractic care.

I have always believed that our awareness exists entirely within our brains and that our subconscious minds have the power to control every aspect of our existence, I believed that hypnosis held the answer to my wife’s suffering; however, it was not easy to convince her to try it. After all if pills, needles and skeleton manipulation could not provide relief, how can your brain do it without external help? Like most people we tried hypnosis only as a last resort.

The hypnosis worked, but for only a brief period of time. It seemed to me that a person’s mind must be trained through repetitious exercise in order to deal with such an extreme condition, so I decided to learn hypnosis so that I could help her.

The drugs mentioned earlier are powerful and while they do control the pain, they have terrible side effects and destroy the quality of a person’s life. Thanks to hypnosis she had been able to reduce the use of drugs by more than 50%.

That’s how I got started in this field. As I went through the training I learned that there are a tremendous number of other conditions that can also be helped.

Learning how to communicate with a person’s subconscious mind can lead to a better life quality slow the progress of, and sometimes even reverse illnesses.

The results have been so amazing, that I decided to redirect my career to helping people by using hypnosis to tap the power that exists within their own minds.

The term "Hypnotherapist" was coined to differentiate the hypnotist dedicated to assisting individuals in achieving self-improvement, from the hypnotist who performs on stage for entertainment.

Our training is to assist people in tapping the vast resources

of their own subconscious in order to achieve desired benefits.

The National Guild of Hypnotists provides a Code of Ethics and requires continual study in order to maintain certification.

To name just a few of the potential benefits:

* Improve Concentration

* Stop Smoking

* Lose Weight

* Improve Memory

* Eliminate Undesired Habits

* Manage Stress

* Overcome Fears

* Increase Self Confidence

* End Exam Anxiety

* Manage Pain

What is hypnosis and how does it work?

Everything of which we are aware, everything that we perceive exists entirely within our minds. If some object falls on your foot, it is your mind that tells you if what you sensed was a mild touch or a severe pain

We have all heard about how our minds are divided into two main sections: The conscious mind and the subconscious mind. You may be surprised to learn that the subconscious mind constitutes approximately 90% of our brain-power. Think about it. Think about all the things that your body does automatically. Breathing, pumping blood, regulating temperature, digesting food, healing wounds and illnesses. In fact we could fill a volume just listing all of the tasks that get performed by our subconscious minds

Tasks that we learn to accomplish "automatically" are taken over by the subconscious. For example, when learning how to type we must concentrate on the location of each key, but as we learn, our fingers find the keys without any conscious thought.

Hypnosis is a procedure used to expedite communications with a person’s subconscious mind. When we learn to drive, type or tie our shoes we teach ourselves to perform habitually. Once learned habits are very difficult to break because our repeated actions get carried out automatically by our subconscious minds. The easy way to eliminate a habit is to communicate with the subconscious and replace the undesirable behavior with something more desirable.

    Here are a few facts

* All hypnosis is actually "self hypnosis".

* No one can be hypnotized against his/her will.

* You will not say or do anything under hypnosis that you don’t want to,  or    that violates your standards.

* You will not reveal any secrets or act in any manner that is contrary to    your sense of right and wrong.

* You will usually remember everything that takes place when hypnotized.

* You are not asleep. It is as if you were very relaxed and daydreaming.

* You cannot get stuck in hypnosis. If the hypnotist were to leave, you would rest for a few moments and easily bring yourself out.

Stop Smoking

Hypnosis is a powerful and effective tool frequently used to help people stop smoking. Most people are freed from tobacco use in just one session. About fifteen to twenty percent of those seeking to end the smoking habit require several sessions. In some cases people who know that they should quit fail to benefit because they really don’t want to quit. As stated earlier: You will not do anything under hypnosis that you don’t want to do. No one ever goes to a hypnotherapist to get help quitting nicotine gum or to stop using the nicotine patch. The nicotine attraction is the easy part to defeat. Most individuals can easily quit for short periods of times – long enough to stop the craving for nicotine. It is the habit engraved in the subconscious mind that must be overcome – and hypnosis is the most effective way to do that!

    Lose Weight

Most overweight people spend their lives dieting. They can control their behavior for short periods of time and lose weight only to gain it back again. Pills may work but they can have severe heath consequences. It is the subconscious mind in which habits are engraved and through hypnosis we can change or eliminate habits. The number of sessions required may depend upon how much an individual has to lose, or finding and eliminating the effect of some past event. Hypnosis helps the individual change his/her internal image and develop sound, healthy eating habits.

Pain Management

There are those who will tell us of the benefits of pain and suffering. Like when we touch something hot, it’s the pain that causes us to promptly withdraw our hand in order to avoid doing serious damage. Persistent pain (suffering) may tell us that something is wrong and that we need to seek medical attention.

So what happens when we are in pain and we have sought and received medical attention - but we’re still in pain? Well then our medical practitioners will usually prescribe drugs.

The drugs are often wonderful in that they reduce, or even eliminate, the pain while damaging our internal organs. The price of relief can be the development of other long-term discomforts. These discomforts treated by more drugs exacerbate internal organ damage. Just read the warnings that accompany your prescriptions or go on-line to your favorite search engine and look for drugs that can damage the:

    • Heart,
    • Kidneys,
    • Liver,
    • Lungs,
    • Eyes, or
    • Brain.

If you are taking prescriptions look up the side effects and potential damage these substances may deliver along with the desired benefit.

In addition to organ damage some drugs can effect a persons cognitive functions. The user may not be in pain but may as well be drunk. That’s why some drugs are used for recreational purposes.

So what choice do you have other than to suffer or ingest poison? How about using the power of your mind?

Learn how to tap the resources that you already have in your wonderful and fantastically powerful brain. All of your awareness is made possible by your brain. It can automatically control how much pain you feel. In an emergency situation such as an accident or a fight you may not feel much pain while the damage is being done because the brain somehow knows that pain at that time may prevent you from doing what you must do in order to survive.

Learn how to use the awesome power of your mind to control pain and stress without the use, or significantly reduced use, of harmful substances.

The answer is Hypnosis. Perhaps I should say "Self-Hypnosis" but all hypnosis is Self-Hypnosis. Your health insurance company will probably not cover the expense of your learning to control pain without drugs. That’s clearly bad for business. The more drugs you take the more you are likely to be willing to pay for insurance. And the more likely you are to develop additional illness and increased drug dependence.
